Do you remember.....

Getting your ears pierced???

So, here's our way we do piercings :) We give the girls a choice to get their ears pierced at the age of 8. Since, in our church, we believe this is the age of accountability. Well, Rebecca will be 8 on Feb 17, but we will be in Hawaii and I don't feel like dealing with it there. Plus softball starts soon and she'll have to take earings out for games. And, for other mothers not knowing when to let their girls do it, Rebecca has asked for years, now. Emma wants them (but won't get them now). My oldest didn't want to do it until the age of 11. I begged her to do it, but she didn't want to.

So, that's our story and reasoning about ear piercing. No answer is right or wrong. My sister is 22 and she still doesn't want to get hers pierced. Go figure!

I'm a little Hispanic baby, so mine were done when I was 2 weeks old. So, no, I don't remember...SHUCKS!

OK, so how old is she? My girls really want me to let them do it, but I need some advice on this.

I was 8 years old and had no idea it was going to hurt at all! I didn't cry or anything but I already have Maddie asking me about it and she is almost 4, that just seems WAY too young to me! Tell Becca I said they look fabulous!

I was 18 years old. Growing up I got the line from my dad that "if Heavenly Father wanted you to have holes in your ears you would have been born with them!" and "when you move out from under my roof you can do what ever you want" So I did!! Ha Ha!

11. My doctor did it. He screwed up and did one hole a little off center and I am still mad about it.

I don't remember the first holes, but the second, third, fourth, etc. were done in my friends bathroom with ice and a needle. Good times!

i'm with paige. and now i'm stuck with all these empty holes in my ears. they look ridiculous. nothing quite as pathetic as a "rebellious" mormon.
i did noe's when she was a baby. she's half samoan, and they're all about the gold. aloha spirit my foot! i was all but bullied into doing it.

but they DID look cute, so no hard feelings on my end.

I do remember! And it has caused family rifts . . . I begged for years, dad always said no. So for my 9th birthday my sister took me to get it done and he wasn't too happy with her. I got off easy. Then I was with my mom at the mall a few years later and decided to get a second hole. Mom thought it was cute, Dad had a cow, I got off easy again because they were too busy fighting about it. Maybe I am the reason for all the family trauma!

ahh the joys of piercings....

I pierced Blayne's when she was 4 months. My hubby said she should be 8 and I said tell me a good reason why that's the magic number.... I won.

Plus, I got my 1st set when I was 2 months, 2nd when I was 9, 3rd holes when I was 17, and 2 at the top when I was 18.... 8 holes all together.
